HRRRRRGH~GRAWR~GAO~RRRRRRRRAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!! Okay, now that that's out of my system, let's get down to business. Hope you lovelies have been enjoying the weather and whatnot etc. etc. Haven't been up to much myself blargh~diggity dangit. My friend and I just came into possession of some He-Man dvds and we were kinda freaking the clerk out in the store because we both raised them above our heads and screamed "I HAVE THE POWER!!!" I've been biding my time at the retail-store-that-must-not-be-named, pretending I'm Yosuke Hanamura working at Junes. I've also been contemplating my villainous tastes. I'm sure I've told you about my plight before: that I frequently become enamoured of baddies, baddies-turned-goodies, and goodies-turned-baddies-turned-goodies. (There's more than you'd think.) Well a recent addition to my ever growing list of troubled boys is Seymour from Final Fantasy X. I knew he'd eventually become a problem, but recently my appreciation for him just suddenly-WHAM!-hit me. It was like SUDDENLY SEYMOUR IS STANDIN' BESIDE ME...But seriously. I have discovered a villainous type I don't take too kindly to however. I dub it the stereotypical-bespeckled-mad-scientist type, for example Aya's Mad Father, Sanan-san from Hakuoki (hate that dick), the Doctor from Madness Returns...even a certain pun loving maniac from the Persona series makes this list. I become furiously angry whenever a character like this exists in a series, which to be frank, means that they are executing the Mad Scientist mechanic properly. I could write freaking essays on the varying degrees of psychopathic/villainous representations in media but I will have to make due with a brief sum up in this little journal entry. While there are some really sick characters out there who do not try to advance science and do not wear bifocals the thing I find sets the scientist types apart from other villains are their motives and technique. I usually feel sick watching these characters because they usually 1. have a thing for dismemberment, 2. usually torture and murder others in merciless and brutal fashion, 3. oftentimes they have no motive for their irrational behaviour other than the advancement of science (a piss poor reason if you ask me) and 4. THEY ARE JUST PLAIN CREEPY. I prefer well-rounded villains who have at least a smidgeon of human compassion is not a reason for their warped logic. MadSci types are so unsettling because they can not be reasoned with. If you were ever to run into a man with shoulder-length hair, preferably lengthy with stubble on his chin, bespeckled and wielding a scalpel, cleaver or knife laughing his head off in a dark alley then you can only pray the horror movie mechanic will pass you by and you will not trip and fall while you make your hasty retreat. If not...it will not be over soon enough. :paranoid:
